Hot Rolled Coil
HRC coil, 1.5–20 mm thick, in grades DD11 to S355JR.
Hot rolled coil is a flat steel product obtained by rolling a continuously cast rectangular semi-finished product (slab) at high temperature.
The slab is heated to rolling temperature in a reheating furnace, rough-rolled and then reduced to its final thickness in a series of stands. Leaving the mill at 850–940 °C, the strip is water-cooled and coiled, mostly at 580–750 °C; once at room temperature, it is shipped as coil or slit.
Hot rolled sheet with teardrop or diamond pattern is also used for industrial floors, stairs and boxes.
Advantages
- Energy- and cost-efficient production
- Economical for thick sections
- High productivity and continuity of supply
